Rebates, tax credits and financing are available to help pay for energy upgrades and renewable energy systems.

offers Energy Smart rebates to all Gunnison County citizens and a low-interest financing program

- Energy Smart Participation Form (only participants can access rebates)
Notes:
- Offers a $50 residential energy assessment and free or reduced cost commercial energy assessment
- Residential rebates for lighting, insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, windows, water heaters, boilers, furnaces, air source heat pumps, air conditioning, ventilation, energy monitors, programmable thermostats, solar thermal, photovoltaic, small wind and wood stoves
- Commercial challenge grants of $425 for energy upgrades and renewable energy systems (limited supply!)
- To be eligible for residential rebates, the resident must be signed up for the Energy Smart Program (free and available to all)
- To be eligible fo commercial rebates, the business must be signed up for the Energy Wise Business Program (free and available to all)
Federal
offers tax credits to all US citizens and sponsors rebates at manufacturers and stores on ENERGY STAR appliances

- Sponsors rebates for ENERGY STAR or efficient appliances from certain manufacturers and stores
- Offers interest rate buy down for energy efficient mortgages
- Credits are based on a percentage of the equipment cost, typically with a max amount
- Reconsidered annually so look for changes at the beginning of each calendar year
State
offers rebates for all Colorado residents, sliding scale amounts depending on other incentives used

- Rebates for renewables must be preceded by an energy assessment
- Rebates are running out in 2011 with no prospect of renewal

There are no rebates currently available from the City of Gunnison Electric or any of the propane companies servicing Gunnison County.
State rebates are expected to run out in the middle of 2011.
